Nicola Vukovic
B. Com (Hons) Management; CISA. Nicola Vukovic has been working in the financial services sector for the past twenty years. She first joined the Central Bank of Malta where she worked as an Economist Statistician within the Statistics Department for many years. There she was involved in the implementation of the various regulations issued by the ESAs in relation to monetary and financial statistics. She then moved to join the Internal Audit Department of the same bank as an Operational and IT Lead Auditor, whilst at the same time attending various training courses provided by the ECB on IT Audit and IT Risk Management, as well as achieving her CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) certification.
She subsequently moved to the industry where she worked as a Risk and Cybersecurity Officer for an insurance subsidiary of a multinational company for a couple of years. Nicola joined the Supervisory ICT Risk and Cybersecurity function (SIRC) of the MFSA in 2022 as a Senior Analyst and her main role here is to conduct supervisory engagements, more specifically onsite inspections, on regulated Financial Entities in relation to ICT Risk and Cybersecurity. She is pursuing further studies in this field.

Joseph’s technical expertise is a sound combination of engagements across a range of service lines including IT compliance audits both locally and abroad, internal audits, Cybersecurity risk assessments and operational ICT experience including IT general controls, IT transformation programs and business continuity planning.

A background in Criminology has improved my technical skillset with a social awareness as well as giving me tools based on forensics, legislation, and project management. Now leading a team on Information Security and GRC at BoV where diplomacy and research are our primary tools. I keep my mind sane and hands dirty through IoT projects at home.

Christian Bonnici West
Dr Christian Bonnici West is a Resident Academic within the Insurance and Risk Management Department, University of Malta. Over the past twenty years Christian held various professional roles within the public and private sectors, and provided information security and business consultancy to various highly regulated entities, including within the pharmaceutical, gaming, education, banking, finance, and security industries.
As a Computer Information Systems researcher with interdisciplinary interests, Christian’s research revolves around the concepts of consent, privacy and surveillance, and around the various aspects of information security management, including risk management and business continuity. Christian is also interested in the development and optimisation of formal ontologies.
