MiCreS Project for Banking & Financial Services Sector

IFS Malta is proud to be a core member of the MiCreS project which focuses on sustainability.

The MiCreS project is a European certification system for micro-credentials and professional qualifications in the banking & financial services sector. It is an innovative project co-funded by the Erasmus+, Forward Looking Programme which aims to develop Europe’s first blockchain-based ecosystem for micro-credentials. The project’s goal is to revolutionise professional qualifications in financial services and align with the European Commission’s educational initiatives to foster a more skilled and adaptable workforce in the area of ESG: an area which is receiving significant attention and focus within the financial services industry given the increasingly critical role of this industry in environmental issues.

Malta and Ireland have been selected as pilot project sites for the MiCreS Project in the Banking & Financial Services Sector.
The project aims to achieve three key objectives. Firstly, it aims to develop a European system for the certification of professional qualifications and related micro-credentials that align with EQF. Secondly, it seeks to implement a prototype certification on ESG for the banking and financial services sector in Europe and third countries. Thirdly, it plans to use innovative blockchain technology, interoperable with the European Digital Credentials for Learning, to support the “green transition” towards a more sustainable and responsible financial system.

Key Benefits

The project’s key benefits include fast access to learning, the ability to quickly reskill and upskill, the mitigation of skills gaps and sectoral challenges, recognition of skills and competencies, integration of sustainable finance practices into daily work, and equipping financial services professionals with green skills development at a system level.

Frankfurt School will coordinate the project consortium, which includes 13 partners from Europe and third countries. The full list of Project partners are:
