IFS Malta Contributes Actively at MiCreS Project Meeting in Dublin

Published on Thursday, 17th July 2025 • News

The MiCreS initiative, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Forward Looking Programme, brings together 13 organisations from across Europe to design and implement a European system for certifying professional qualifications and related micro-credentials, fully aligned with the European Qualifications Framework (EQF).  The project will also develop a prototype for a digital wallet to store and share verified credentials, allowing for linking with Europass, further improving portability of credentials for individuals working in financial services.

A central focus of the Dublin meeting was the progress on the ESG Foundation Certificate, which is being co-developed by IFS Malta and IOB. This certification aims to equip professionals working in banking and financial services with the practical knowledge and skills to assess and integrate Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors into business decision-making—an area of increasing relevance in light of the green transition.

At the Dublin event, IFS Malta provided an update on national preparations for the pilot launch of the qualification in Malta while also reflecting on the progress made since the previous project coordination meeting held in Milan in March 2025.

Peter Calleya, IFS Malta President was also present for the launch of the pilot in Dublin.

IFS Malta remains strongly committed to the success of the MiCreS Project and to its mission of delivering high-quality, industry-relevant education to financial services professionals. Participation in this pan-European initiative ensures that Malta remains at the forefront of innovation in financial training, especially in key emerging areas such as ESG and sustainable finance.
