The Malta Institute of Financial Services (ifs Malta) is an independent licensed school in Malta. Its principal mission is to actively support banking and finance practitioners and students through the provision of related academic qualifications and experiential training.
The Institute is committed in promoting a high level of professionalism and good governance as a standard for all stakeholders across the financial services sector.
For the purpose of delivering its mission, the Institute has a well-resourced central committee of finance professionals supported by experienced executive staff that engage in the provision of banking and finance qualifications. This complements feedback generated through its internal network of working committees for the provision and availability of relevant training and qualifications.
The Institute is the longest established banking school in Malta, having been established in 1961. It is licensed to deliver and award higher education programmes by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority (MFHEA).
The Institute is an approved training partner with globally renowned banking and financial training services providers and a member of the the European Banking and Financial Services Association [EBTN]. Such alliances enable the Institute to offer practical value-added service to its members.
ifs Malta is committed to remain at the forefront of promoting and fostering professionalism for the advancement of knowledge and education in the principles and practices of financial services for the benefit of the profession and the general public.
ifs Malta is managed by a central committee of fifteen elected members, who hold their post for three years. The executive committee is agreed at the first meeting of the central committee each year.
The central committee is responsible for the execution of the policies, guidelines, procedures and decisions, as well as the management and administration of the school through employed executive staff members. All committee members serve on a voluntary basis.
The Award in Maltese Home Loan Finance is a qualification created to cater for the needs of the local financial services environment by upskilling professionals in this important area and satisfying a regulatory requirement.
